“As part of Johnson & Johnson’s Our Race to Health Equity initiative, Johnson & Johnson has funded over $500,000 in scholarships for Black, Indigenous and People Of Color (BIPOC) students through the Foundation of the National Student Nurses’ Association. We were proud to provide scholarships to 61 of the over 2,300 applicants, who will play a key role in creating a world where health equity is a pillar of our society and our healthcare system.
2020 showed us, more than ever before, that having well-trained and well-supported nurses is key to the health of our society. However, in a country with incredible racial health inequity— where Black Americans have shorter life expectancies than white Americans — the need for equipped nurses is especially high in communities of color.
One way that Johnson & Johnson is working to eliminate health inequities for people of color is by investing in creating a diverse healthcare professional pipeline, including increasing BIPOC representation among nurses. These scholarships are one part of a multi-pronged strategy to ensure access to high-quality and culturally competent health care for all.“
