Robert Victor Piemonte, EdD, RN, CAE, FAAN, a highly esteemed professional leader and former Executive Director of the National Student Nurses' Association, succumbed to the corona virus on April 21, 2020. Dr. Piemonte, born in 1934, graduated from Pilgrim State Hospital School of Nursing and earned the Bachelor of Science Degree at Long Island University and Master of Arts, Master of Education and Doctorate of Education degrees from Teachers College, Columbia University. FNSNA Awards over $163,100 in Scholarships (3/23/20) The Foundation of the National Student Nurses’ Association (FNSNA) awarded 80 scholarships for the 2020-21 academic year. The Scholarship Selection Committee, composed of faculty and students, met at FNSNA headquarters in February 2020 to review scholarship applications submitted by hundreds of applicants. The 2021 online scholarship application will be available in September at www.forevernursing.org for the 2021-2022 academic year. FNSNA Awards Over $56,700 in Promise of Nursing Regional Scholarships to Nursing Students and Awards $43,500 in Promise of Nursing Regional Faculty Fellowships (3/23/20) The Foundation of the National Student Nurses’ Association (FNSNA) awarded 18 Promise of Nursing (PON) scholarships for the 2020-2021 academic year and 9 Promise of Nursing faculty fellowships awarded for the 2019-2020 academic year. 2019 FNSNA Appoints New Treasurer to Board of Trustees (07/25/19) The Foundation of the National Student Nurses' Association (FNSNA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Pamela Austin Thompson, MS, RN, FAAN, to the position of Treasurer to the Board of Trustees. Read More FNSNA Awards $125,625 in Promise of Nursing Regional Scholarships (4/12/19) The Foundation of the National Student Nurses’ Association (FNSNA) awarded 50 Promise of Nursing (PON) scholarships for the 2019-2020 academic year. The Promise of Nursing regional fundraising events, sponsored by the Johnson & Johnson Campaign for Nursing, raised over $15 million since 2002 for undergraduate student nursing scholarships, faculty fellowships, and nursing school grants. Funds were contributed by hospitals, healthcare agencies, nursing schools and by Johnson & Johnson to support gala nurse recognition events. The FNSNA awarded scholarships in the following regions: Arizona, California, Maryland, Mississippi, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington. The Scholarship Selection Committee, composed of faculty and students, met at FNSNA headquarters in February 2019 to review scholarship applications submitted by hundreds of applicants.
